 Sacramento Hurting the People they want to help!
The California State Legislature is attempting to help people and as a result is hurting their economic growth. During this year’s legislative session a mired of legislation micro-managing business is in the hopper. Already this year we have heard of many manufacturing businesses that are leaving California for lower cost states, and the speed up of the investment in technology to lower employment costs.
I’m not picking on the hospitality sector of the economy, they are the first to be hit by many of these mandates. Coming on are many more disruptive technologies that will displace 20th Century jobs, it should not be the purpose of government to create 20th Century rules for a 21st Century economy. We need to look ahead at the needs of the future.
California has a very diverse workforce, in age, gender and educational standards. We need to allow them all to prosper and not regulate the lower economic end of our workforce out of a job by well-intentioned legislators that never sign the front of a payroll check.
